FAQs

What time are your services?

Our morning worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. We have a bi-weekly evening prayer service that starts at 5:00 p.m. Sunday school is offered occasionally at 9:30 a.m. Email admin@rivercityrichmond.org for the latest Sunday school schedule.

Where do you Meet? where should I Park?

We gather in the Veritas School gym located at 3406 Brook Rd. Richmond, VA 23227. There are dedicated parking lots off of Lamont Street and Westwood Avenue—you are welcome to use either one! Follow the signs from the parking lot to the gym and don’t hesitate ask one of our volunteers for directions.

What Can I expect from your services?

Whether you are looking for a new church home or are exploring Christianity for the first time, expect to be greeted by warms smiles from people genuinely excited to meet you. We’re thrilled you’d choose to spend your Sunday morning with us. Stop by the welcome table, grab a cup of coffee, and find a seat!

The goal of our morning service is simple: Bring glory to God in response to his grace towards sinners like us in the person and work of Jesus Christ! To that end, we do four things when we gather:

  1. We sing God’s Word – We sing a mix of songs old and new that capture timeless gospel truth. Our musicians keep the accompaniment light to amplify the sound of God’s people singing as the main “instrument” heard during musical worship.

  2. We pray God’s Word – The God of the universe has spoken to us in Scripture and invites us to speak to him through prayer. Prayer is a way we express our gratitude to and dependance on the Lord. We alternate between a member leading in a prayer of praise or prayer of confession in response to the morning Scripture reading. One of our pastors leads a longer prayer of intercession before the sermon each week.

  3. We hear God’s Word – Because God creates and sustains his people through his Word, the sermon is the centerpiece of our Sunday gathering. Someone, most often our lead pastor, will open to a particular passage of Scripture and preach a sermon where the main point of the message is the main point of the selected passage. Sermons are usually between 40–50 minutes long.

  4. We see the God’s Word – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper were given to the church by Jesus for the purpose of marking out his people from the world and encouraging those gathered with gospel hope. We take the Lord’s Supper monthly and non-members are welcome to partake if they are baptized members in good standing at another gospel-preaching church.

Our bi-weekly evening prayer service isn’t a repeat of the morning service—it’s something different entirely. Our evening service is a more informal time where we sing a few songs, hear ministry updates and prayer requests in the life of the church, pray together, and hear a brief devotional from God’s Word from a text of Scripture related to the morning sermon.

Is Childcare available?

You are more than welcome to keep your children with you during our services. However, we do offer childcare for the entirety of the morning service for children six months through three years old. We also offer age-appropriate programming for children four years old through 2nd grade during the sermon. Childcare is available for children six months through three years old during our evening prayer service as well.

All our children’s ministry volunteers are members of the church who have gone through training and an approval process complete with a background check.
